Representatives of the East District Police precinct will give their monthly report

Sister Kristin Funari, Executive Director of the York Street Project which is sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace will give a short presentation on the project.

Jyo Tshna Buyyala, Director of the Liberty Humane Society will give a short a presentation on the different programs and volunteer opportunities available at the organization.

Gerry Bakirtjy, of the Barrow Mansion Board of Directors, will be speaking about Barrow Mansion and the organization.

Leon Yost, Documentary Photographer will present a slide talk of Peculiar Jersey City Phenomena; inexplicable lights emanating from a high church steeple, a tiny Myan fortress hidden deep in the marsh grass, and Mayor Hague’s famous desk specifically designed to receive “donations” are just a few examples from our fascinating town. His slide talk is sponsored by the Jersey City Historical Project.

Thursday, March 23, 1-5pm

History Symposium at the Jersey City Museum: “Activism, Monuments & Community” A look at local activism and the role it has played in preserving and reviving Jersey City’s monuments and institutions. Of special interest are the charismatic individuals who dedicated their careers to preserving Jersey City’s past. Participants include Charles Balcer, Sam Pesin, Meredith Arms Bzdak, Ph.D., Colin Egan and John Gomez.

Saturday, March 25, 7-11pm

Van Vorst Park Association 31st Annual Meetball Dinner, is a great way to catch up with “old” neighbors and meet new ones. This is a dinner and entertainment event for all in the Van Vorst Park area and features cuisine from some of the great restaurants in the area. There will be live music, a chinese auction and entertainment for the kids. The Meetball Dinner is the only fundraiser Van Vorst Park Association undertakes each year and proceeds go to local charitable organizations in Jersey City.

Tom Harrison, Division Director of Environmental Compliance of the Incinerator Authority, will talk about their role in our community and take questions from the membership in conjunction with Jennifer Morrill of the Neighborhood Improvement District.

Christopher Kirwan of New Work Architecture will be presenting his drawings for a proposed 12 unit condominium building with parking being developed by 307 Barrow Street Partners LLC at the north west corner of Barrow and Wayne Streets.

Friday, June 23 – Constructions: Freedom in Fabric, artwork by Anne Barry closing reception from 7pm-9pm at CRS, located at 123, 4th Avenue, 2nd floor, New York, NY.

Wednesday, June 28 – Jersey City Reservoir Preservation Alliance’s Rally at City Hall, 280 Grove Street starting at 5:30pm prior to the City Council meeting.

Thursday, June 29 – Downtown Transportation Study. There will be a second public meeting for the Jersey City Division of City Planning’s Regional Waterfront Access and Downtown Circulation Study. The meeting will be at City Hall, 280 Grove Street, in Council Chambers starting at 6pm.

Friday, June 30 – The Art House Summer Blowout at Victory Hall, 186 Grand Street at Marin Boulevard starting at 9pm, admission is $10. For more information call 201-915-9911

Jennifer Morrill, the Public Information Officer for the Neighborhood Improvement District will be speaking about the organization and the role it plays in the community.

Suzy Jarkezian and Lenny Singh of the Pride Mentor Program will give a short presentation on their volunteer mentoring program for Hudson County.

There will be a discussion regarding amending the following VVPA Bylaw:

Article 4, Section 2 General Powers; increasing the expenditure of funds by the Board of Directors
