businesses and the city will join forces with Friends of Van Vorst

Park to present The Spring Festival of Children. Once again, the event

will showcase students’ talents and offer families

A FREE DAY OF FUN AND LEARNING

with visual and performing arts, entertainment, workshops, a gardening tour and more.

April 12TH, 2010-Jersey City

The second Spring Festival of Children will be held on Saturday, May 22nd, from

10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Van Vorst Park, on Montgomery Street at Jersey

Avenue. The event is open to the entire community, and there is no

admission charge.

The first Spring Festival of Children, which was held on May 30th,

2009, at Van Vorst Park, was a great success, bringing together

families and children with educators, museums, city institutions like

the Public Library, community organizations and small businesses and

uniting them as one community.

This year, the Festival will again be a delightful event, offering

music, dance and sports performances and art workshops by various participants as well as a gardening tour provided by the Friends of Van Vorst Park.

The organizers invite other community organizations and businesses

related to children’s education, arts and wellness- including music,

arts, sports, yoga, dance, languages, health and special education- to

participate in the event and inform area residents about their work.

Participants must provide their own tables and/or display materials.

Non-Profit/Community Service Groups are invited to exhibit at no charge, but registration is required.

SPACES: 8 ft. wide by 4 ft. deep. BRING YOUR OWN TABLES. Tables are not provided. Space filled on first-come, first served basis the morning of the Festival. No motor vehicles are allowed in the Park. Please park in authorized parking spaces. JCPD will ticket any illegally parked vehicles.

HPNA membership is open to local residents. Annual fee is $10.00 per household, per calendar (Jan-Dec) year. Members enjoy a discount off their table space. You may include the membership fee with the table space reservation. Please fill out a membership form at the HPNA table the day of the Festival.

Jersey City Police Department TOY DRIVE-The JCPD is accepting unwrapped toys and donations until December 10th. Please drop off at the East District office, 207 7th Street. The toys will be distributed at their 16th annual Children’s Christmas Party at PS 4, December 11th.
